Opportunity for Young Zambians in the Diaspora to play Football for the Zambia National Soccer Team

The dual citizenship has presented an opportunity for young Zambian talents in the United Kingdom to exploit their potential in football with a possibility of being selected to play for the Zambia National Football Team at various levels.

Zambians in the diaspora whose children have different citizenship by virtue of being born and choosing to carry passports of Foreign countries of birth have an opportunity to hold dual citizenship.

On Tuesday 5th January 2016 His Excellency Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, President of the Republic of Zambia assented to the bills passed by Parliament, thereby bringing into effect the Constitution of Zambia Act, No. 1 of 2016 and the Constitution of Zambia (Amendment) Act. No. 2 of 2016, which may be cited as Constitution of Zambia Act, 2015 and the Constitution of Zambia (Amendment) Act, 2015, respectively.

The enactment of the amended constitution has brought in a new phenomenon allowing Zambians to come back and invest in different sectors of the economy and the opportunity has also created a window for young talents who play football to avail themselves for a possible selection to the Zambia National Football team.
