UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to visit Zambia

United Kingdom Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Zambia, charged with the reasonability of increasing trade and economic cooperation between Zambia and the United Kingdom, Baroness Lindsay Patricia Northover will be visiting Zambia from 9th February to 13th February 2018.

And Zambia’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom his Excellency Mr. Muyeba Chikonde who is in Zambia to welcome Baroness Northover and her entourage said he was delighted to see that Zambia and the UK were enhancing bilateral cooperation through exchange of visits and exploration of new areas of cooperation.

During the visit, Baroness Northover will hold high-level ministerial meetings with the Minister of Finance, Minister of Commerce Trade and Industry, Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Development, Governor of the Bank of Zambia to explore opportunities for trade and investment between Zambia and the United Kingdom.

The Baroness will also meet with representatives of the African Development Bank, IMF and World Bank, including Zambia Sugar Plc, Zambeef Plc and Vedanta owned Konkola Copper Mines (KCM).

Further, Baroness Lynda Chalker, Founder and President of Africa Matters Limited will also be visiting Zambia from 12th February to 14th February 2018 to engage with Government officials and business executives to have on the ground appreciation of the economic situation and investment opportunities in Zambia.

In November last year, Baroness Northover had a meeting with Secretary to the Treasury Mr. Fredson Yamba in London, where she said that UK government is ready to offer support to Zambia in different sectors such as microeconomics, governance, social protection, private sector development, gender, education and health.

She further said Zambia was an important trading partners adding that the two countries should continue strengthening their bilateral trade and economic ties.
