Deputy High Commissioner Mrs. Patricia Sikaala Chanda has described as historical the Zambia High Commission hosting the Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS) 2016 International Youth meeting.
And Zambia’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom His Excellency Mr. Muyeba Chikonde welcomed the the Youths to Zambia House and later invited them to a delicious Zambian meal.
On 3rd October, 2016, Over 30 Youths from across the Commonwealth gathered for the Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS) International Youth Meeting at Zambia House.
The purpose of the meeting was to plan for the future of RCS networks, share experience and knowledge and facilitate interaction and relationship-building between branches. The youth programme provided a platform for young people to connect with like-minded individuals, build leadership skills and identify how to instigate change in the Commonwealth.
Mrs. Chanda said the Zambia High Commission was honored to host the Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS) International Youth Meeting and Zambia was represented by Brian Zimba.
“For The Commonwealth Society (RCS) to consider having the International Youth Meeting at Zambia House means a lot to us as Zambia. This is historical to us. The International Youth Meeting demonstrated how the Commonwealth works especially to those who were attending the event for the first time. It allowed youths to actively connect with people from different countries and walks of life. The youth meeting also helped to build leadership skills,” she said.
Royal Commonwealth Society Director CBE, Michael Lake, also spoke at the International meeting and emphasized the important of the the Royal Commonwealth Society and how youths can share experience and knowledge through such important meetings.
